Legal
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 September 2026
This policy explains what information ExactTime ("we", "us", the "site") does and does not collect when you visit, why advertising partners may set cookies, and the choices and legal rights you have. It applies to this website only.
1. The short version
The clock runs entirely in your browser. We do not ask you to register, we do not build user profiles, and we do not sell personal information. The only data stored by the site itself is a handful of preferences kept in your browser's local storage. The most significant privacy consideration on this site is third-party advertising, described in section 5.
2. Information we do not collect
We do not collect your name, postal address, phone number, date of birth, payment details or account credentials, because the site has no feature that requires them. We do not require or use fingerprinting to identify you.
3. Information handled in your browser
- Time zone. Your browser reports an IANA time zone identifier (for example Europe/Madrid) so the main clock can open on your own local time. This is read in the page and is not transmitted to us.
- Precise location — only if you ask. Sunrise and sunset are calculated only after you press the location button and your browser grants permission. The coordinates are used in the page to run an astronomical calculation and are then discarded when you close or reload it. They are never sent to our servers, stored, or shared with advertisers. You can revoke the permission at any time in your browser's site settings.
- Preferences in local storage. We store your selected city, your light or dark theme choice, and your cookie consent decision. These are essential to the site working the way you left it and contain no identifiers. Clearing your browser's site data removes them.
- Messages you send us. If you email us or use the contact form, we use what you write solely to reply, and we keep the correspondence no longer than necessary.
4. Server logs
Like practically every website, our hosting provider processes standard technical request data — IP address, timestamp, requested URL, referrer and user-agent — for security, abuse prevention and to deliver pages. These logs are retained for a short period and are not used to build advertising profiles by us.
5. Cookies and third-party advertising (Google AdSense)
ExactTime is supported by advertising and intends to display advertisements supplied by Google, including through Google AdSense, and other third-party vendors.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies — including the DoubleClick DART cookie and other Google advertising cookies — enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- Users may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Further information about how Google uses data in advertising, and additional opt-out options, is available at google.com/policies/technologies/ads. You can also opt out of many third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info/choices.
- Advertising and other non-essential cookies are only enabled after you accept them in our consent banner. If you reject them, we do not activate advertising personalisation scripts, and only strictly necessary storage remains.
6. Consent management in the EEA, UK and Switzerland
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are shown a consent notice before non-essential cookies are set, in line with the ePrivacy Directive and Google's EU user consent policy. Your choice is remembered in your browser and you may change it at any time by clearing your site data and reloading the page, which brings the banner back. Where consent is the legal basis, withdrawing it stops future processing but does not undo processing already carried out lawfully.
7. Legal bases (GDPR)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: consent for non-essential cookies, advertising personalisation and access to your precise location; legitimate interests for keeping the site secure and functional, including short-lived technical logs; and legitimate interests for answering messages you choose to send us.
You have the right to request access to your personal data, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, portability, and to object to processing; to withdraw consent; and to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, email hbatchi2002@gmail.com. We respond within one month, and we may ask for information needed to locate any records relating to your request.
8. California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
We do not sell personal information for money. Certain advertising cookie practices can be treated as a "sale" or as "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising under California law; rejecting non-essential cookies in our banner is the mechanism for opting out on this site. California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, to limit the use of sensitive personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Requests can be sent to hbatchi2002@gmail.com. We also honour Global Privacy Control signals where our advertising partners support them.
9. International transfers
Our hosting and advertising partners may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, such transfers rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or another lawful transfer mechanism operated by those providers.
10. Children's privacy
ExactTime is a general-audience reference site and is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets that threshold). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it. Advertising on the site is not configured for child-directed treatment.
11. Data security and retention
The site is served over HTTPS. Because we hold so little data, retention is short by design: preferences live only in your browser until you clear them, and correspondence is deleted once it is no longer needed.
12. Other websites we link to
Guides and policy pages link to third-party resources. Those sites have their own privacy practices and we are not responsible for them. See our Terms of Service and Disclaimer.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site or the law changes. The date at the top always shows the current version, and material changes will be reflected on this page before they take effect.
